Leading the way with generative artificial intelligence, Chesterfield County Public Schools invites students to be part of the first student fair created by a U.S. school district.
Students with an idea for using generative AI in a creative or unexpected way can submit a proposal online by March 15, 2026. Students in grades 6-12 are eligible to be part of the groundbreaking Gen AI Student Fair, which will take place 5:30-7 p.m. April 23 at Deep Creek Middle.
This science fair-style event encourages students to present innovative, creative and practical uses of generative artificial intelligence. Whether students are solving real-world problems, exploring new ideas or pushing creative boundaries, the fair is an opportunity to think big, share ideas and showcase their work.
There are four generative AI categories for student proposals:
Learning and research
Entrepreneurship
Lifestyle
Other/open
Proposals may be submitted by a single student or by several students working together. All accepted proposals will be displayed in a showcase area during the fair. Additionally, students can opt to deliver a TED-Talk-like presentation. Students may also be invited to present at a Gen AI Regional Summit in September.
To be selected for the Gen AI Student Fair, students must submit a proposal online by March 15. Topics will be reviewed based on project clarity (purpose and gen AI use are clearly explained); relevance (project aligns with generative AI and innovation); and appropriateness for a school setting. Students and parents will be notified of accepted projects in mid-March.
